We will write to your old accountant informing them to provide us with all of your accounting and tax records that they hold.

2. What if I’m worried about telling my old accountant the bad news that you no longer require them to prepare your accounts/tax?

If you are uncomfortable having a conversation with your old accountant, we can do this on your behalf. All we need is a simple letter from you to confirm you wish us to be appointed and will be disengaging the services of your old accountant.

3. Will my old accountant make it difficult for me to move to another?

Professional ethics require accountants to work cooperatively with any new accountant and to share the information needed for a smooth handover. Your previous accountant is expected to reply within a reasonable timeframe, and we’ll take care of all communication to make the transition as simple and stress-free as possible for you.

4. How long does it take to switch to The Accountant Limited?

The timeframe can vary slightly depending on your previous accountant, but most handovers are completed within a few weeks. With us managing the process, you can expect minimal disruption.

5. Can I switch accountant mid-year?

Yes, of course you can. You don’t have to wait until your year end to leave. Switching part way through the year is perfectly normal and can be advantageous if you are experiencing issues now.

6. How much will my old accountant charge to hand this information over?

We assume you have paid your accountant for the work they have performed to date. Some accountants may charge half an hour of their time but it’s worth you having this conversation in the beginning as some accountants do not charge for this hand over.
